Another peak in 7-day incidence in Germany

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has again reported an increase in 7-day incidence in Germany, setting a new record. The RKI reported the value of new coronavirus infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week at 553.2 this morning.

For comparison, the previous day the value was 528.2, a week ago 387.9 (previous month: 306.4). Health offices in Germany reported 74,405 new infections to the RKI within one day. This is according to figures reflecting the status of the RKI dashboard as of 5:06 am.

A week ago, there were 45,690 infections. Across Germany, 193 deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to the data. A week ago, there had been 322 deaths. The RKI counted 8,074,527 proven infections with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
